Frequently Asked Questions
What is Pilates?
Developed in the 1920’s by Joseph Pilates, this method of exercise creates mind-body connection and body awareness by focusing on strength and flexibility.
How do I begin if I’ve never done Pilates before?
We love having clients who are brand new to Pilates. By starting with the basics and moving clients forward at a pace that is right for them, we strive to meet everyone’s needs individually.
How can I be assured I am working with a qualified instructor?
So happy you asked! All of our instructors have graduated from our own extensive Pilates Sports Center certification where they have completed a 450 hour education and also have passed the National Pilates Certification Exam. And our Master Pilates Instructor ensures the quality of the sessions!
Who is a Master Pilates Instructor?
Master Pilates Instructors are exceptional Pilates professionals with years of experience and have the ability and passion to train and host their own Pilates Teacher Training Program and approved workshops for new instructors.
Master Pilates Instructors have achieved a high level of excellence in their field, hold multiple diplomas, have passed rigorous testing, and are nationally certified Pilates teachers. Master teachers of Pilates either own studios that are education centers or lead a chosen program at their facilities.
Can I do Pilates if I have had an injury?
It will depend on the type and the stage of healing of your injury. We will work with your doctor or physical therapist to assess the best path for you.
How many times should I do Pilates per week?
We recommend at least 2x per week, however, the more you do, the faster you will see results.
What kind of Pilates do you teach?
We teach the classical method as originally designed by Joseph Pilates as well as the modern method.
What are student sessions?
We have Pilates Certification Program, and as a result, we have a class of students training to become a Pilates instructor. In a student session, the client trains one-on-one with a student instructor. These sessions are 50 minutes long.
While the focus is on you, the student is REQUIRED to practice what he or she is learning in the program. All sessions are coordinated directly between you and your assigned student. If you are interested in this program, please contact us with the Title of the email “Student Trainer Request”, and include in the email your name, phone number, and days and times available to train.
We will connect you to a student instructor who will contact you to schedule your first session.
*note: if you have any specific injuries or would like a more experienced instructor, then the student program may not be suitable for you. Please contact us with any questions.
